PICK-ME-UP: THE STEPS BACKWARD
Hello! Greetings from Brooklyn.
Last week, I walked by the spot of my first job in New York City. It was a brutal one with a lot of odd memories and tales of a horrible boss. I stood outside, looked around, and yelled:
LOOK HOW FAR WE’VE COME, JEN FREAKING GLANTZ.
Anyway, I thought I’d be stuck working there forever. But that’s never the truth. Being stuck is temporary.
Look back in life only to see how far you’ve come.
In this issue: How to monetize your magic, fun books to grab for your summer bag, and the trouble with trying to give people advice.
Why you’re getting this: I'm Jen Glantz and this is my Monday Pick-Me-Up newsletter. I've been sending it for over 8-years, every single Monday morning, to thousands of awesome humans, just like you. Thank you for letting this email live in in your inbox. It truly makes my heart explode with joy.
How to Monetize Your Magic
Last week, I shared this post in my Odd Jobs newsletter. So many people reached out and said the info. helped them start to make some side cash. So I want to share it with you here: Ps. If you'd prefer to hear the audio version of this post, press play here.
Before you dive into this mighty list, think about a list of 10 different skills and strengths that you have. What is your expertise? What types of experience do you have that people want or need? What can you help other people with that will make them overall…better?
Okay, now that you have a list, let’s make you that cash money.
Let people book you for coaching calls
Put together a bio that answers this question: Why you?
Add in your expertise, your credentials, your experience and then list yourself on a coaching website that lets people book you for consulting.
Check out Bookk.me where you can set a price for people to chat with you for 15-minutes and make some quick cash giving them advice. The best part is that you can add your link to your social media profiles, email signature and Linkedin profile.
Whenever anyone wants to pick your brain, they can click this link and book time to chat with you.
If you’re feeling a little imposter syndrome thinking “who would book me?” think about all the different people you’d book for things.
I’d hire someone to teach me: networking, financial investment tips, how to make vegan salads, and seriously soooo many more things.
Create an online course
I talk about creating online courses so often because I really think everyone should have one - even if it’s a basic and short course that you sell for $47.
You can create an online course about….ANYTHING (how to make pasta sauce, how to stand out on a job interview, ways to train a puppy during the first month).
Once you create the course, every time it sells, you make passive income.
How do you do this? 100% you should start your course using THINKIFIC and also, sign up for my free course workshop this week so I can help you.
Do some freelance work
One of the best things I had going for me when I got laid-off was side freelance work I had been doing for years. If you have a skill that businesses or brands need help with, set up profiles on freelancing sites to see if any work comes in. When you need the work, you can be more active on those platforms and pitch brands and businesses / or answer needs that are listed on the platforms.
Here are some sites to use:
Get on a gig website
If you have a less business-ey skill that you want to monetize, try other types of gig or for hire platforms and apps that are out there. Here are some to check out and see what is best for your skills and expertise.
All my love,
