Greetings First name / friend, It's me, your friend Jen. I'm writing this to you from Bozeman, Montana.
I've always been obsessed with going to Montana. I don't know why. Since I could read a map, I spotted that state as a location I need to go to.
My gut has always said: Jen, there's something waiting for you there. A treasure. A secret. The ghost of some other life, perhaps.
When we feel called to go to a place we've never been, we must go and see why. So that's why I'm here. Now, what will I find?
In this issue: Why it's time to get your “stuff” together, influencers who are millionaires, an app that reminds you to move your body at work, and so much more.
Why you’re getting this: I'm Jen Glantz and this is the Pick-Me-Up newsletter. I've been sending it every Monday, for 8-years, to thousands of awesome humans, just like you. Thanks for letting this email live in in your inbox. It truly makes my heart explode with joy
THE PICK-ME-UP
At coffee with a friend, she tells me how her job might evaporate. She doesn't know what to do next.
I take a sip of my espresso and go into full-on fixing mode.
“You need to get that resume open, let me do the cover letter, and let's give your Linkedin a makeup. Then, we'll build you a website and find you 15 different people to network with. After that…”
That's when the condensation in her eyes tell me it's time to stay quiet.
“It's not that easy. I'm just feeling really lost."
It's been quite a long time since I lost a job. But I think back to the day I heard the words that sent me packing up my desk, giving my badge back, and walking out of the office building.
I remember coming home and making to-do lists of what to do next, before buying a matinee movie ticket so I could cry my eyes out some place dark.
It was easy to know that I needed to do something next. It felt impossible to know what to actually do.
All of us, no matter what our work situation looks like, could use a dose of this advice:
What is next for you? What can you do to start making that happen?
Maybe you love your job, but even so, it's not forever. Is it time to update your career assets, flirt with the idea of applying to companies you adore, and think about what kinds of skills you could learn now that will pay you so much extra money later on?
Maybe you despise your job, but getting out feels daunting. Think about it this way: you already know what you need to do to get a new job. Now make a list of all the steps, but make them small. (Day one: open up the resume, day two: read it, day three: make small edits). I know that sounds silly, but when we're able to accomplish a small step, it makes something that seems overwhelming feels more accessible - and you won't feel the guilt that weighs you down about not doing allllll you need to do to get that new job. You are doing it, just in steps.
Maybe you own your own business or work for yourself. Think about how you can introduce one new income stream by the end of the year. I sleep better at night as a solopreneur knowing I don't just have one source of income. Because like a job, that too can evaporate.
I talk about this more right here –
But no matter where you're at in life, think about it this way:
It's time to get your “stuff” together and think about you and what is next.
All my love,
Jen Glantz

Everything I Enjoyed Reading This Week
At the airport, I spent 45-minutes having a meltdown in the bookstore because I didn't know what book to buy. SO many options! This might sound creepy, but I stood in the corner and watched what books other people were buying and then went over and browsed those picks. I ended up going with this book - and not just because it's currently a Netflix movie – it just seemed awesome.
I was fascinated by this list of the richest influencers. It shares how much money they make. Also, this article on how people scammed the system to get verified on Instagram.
An odd job: I found this website that will pay you $1,000 to taste food at Trader Joe's. Hello, sign me up!
I never had a bachelorette party and after reading this article, I'm wondering if I should go one a “wifelorette party”? Would you come with me? I want to go to Vegas!
There's a giant matchmaking festival happening in Ireland. I feel like if I was single, I'd use this as an excuse to visit the country and look for love…hmmm…if that's a lot, here's an awesome dating app that doesn't feel like it's a dating app.
An App That Reminds You to Move Your Body
I spend tooooooo much time sitting down and working all day. If I didn't have Goofy, I'd be at my desk from 9am to 5pm without moving, except for a snack or to use the bathroom. I'm trying to change this and using this free app to remind me it's time to get up and move, even for just a minute or two.
What I've Been Telling My Friends About
This sunscreen - seriously obsessed because it does not make me break out!
Picking up a few fall dresses: like this green one / and this white one
Loving cropped sweaters - I have this one
I wear these every single day and get sooo many compliments - plus they are only $9
Best Lululemon dupe - love mine
Imagine having a step-by-step plan that leads you right to your goal. How about a sidekick of a coach who helps make it feel easy, doable, and fun? What if you said goodbye to excuses, what-ifs, and self-doubt and took control of what you deserve in life?
You don’t have to do it alone. Let's work together.
The End
Thanks for reading the Pick-Me-Up Newsletter. If you know someone who'd adore getting this in their inbox, will you send them this link? And if you want to keep in touch this week, you can find me on Instagram, Linkedin, and TikTok (for a real odd time).
Until next Monday, I'll be rooting for you and cheering you on! Have an epic week.
Jen Glantz
