PICK-ME-UP: MARCH, LIKE A LION
Hello! Greetings from Brooklyn. Yesterday my mom mentioned that now is the best time to plant flowers. They’ll grow by spring she said and I thought about how months and weeks go by and you don’t see anything but the soil looking back at you and you wonder if you did it right, if a shinning marigold will pop out, eventually, ever.
The thing is, you don’t know for sure, but you have to work for *it*, that thing, that beautiful flower or that moment of success even if there’s no guarantee it’ll ever bloom for anyone to see.
This is what I’m reminding myself, on repeat, today.
In this issue: A note on the month of March, a free workshop coming up, and what I'm stocking my pantry with.
Why you’re getting this: I'm Jen Glantz and this is my Monday Pick-Me-Up newsletter. I've been sending it for over 8-years, every single Monday morning, to thousands of awesome humans, just like you. Thank you for letting this email live in in your inbox. It makes my heart explode with joy.
The Pick-Me-Up: March.
My mom always tells me how March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb and I always ask how and why and what that means...
As if I forgot, but I didn't forget. I just like hearing her say:
"Like most things in life, the month starts off stormy and ends so sweet."
Like most things in life, March begins with a force of hope and fizzles out to be a calming exhale of musical notes that make up our life.
And so, I spend all 31 days repeating those words, like a mantra that's helping me
huffffffff
and
puffffff
my own release.
And it works, so good...
...things happen to me in March:
I met Adam on March 19th.
I met Goofy on March 25th.
I started my podcast on March 28th
I look at March as the month to stubbornly let things go. I look at March as the month to find the space in my heart to hug onto new things that feel extraordinarily right.
March comes in like a lion and out like a sweet little lamb and I've spent years saying that on repeat....
BECAUSE!
...do you know what happens the day after March ends? On the first day of April?
I turn another year older.
It's my birthday.
& I guess you could say I'm nothing like a lion, hardly like a lamb.
I’m just a true APRIL FOOL.
& nothing makes me feel more giddy than that.
So HELLO, MARCH.
Like a lion, I'll march into this month with power and crawl out of it with a smile.
All my love,
Jen Glantz
