PICK-ME-UP: WHEN THE PAST WON'T LEAVE YOU ALONE
Hello! Greetings from Florida. I'm still here. When I'm here, I feel so suffocated with memories from my past. How could I not? I grew up here and every street corner, shopping plaza, closet in my house, is filled with something that brings my mind back inside old stories that I no longer have access to anymore.
People grew up. I left. Old love expired. You know how it goes.
In the middle of feeling super sad the other day, thinking about my past, I started to remember that if my past saw me know - it would not recognize me - and maybe that's a good thing.
Sharing more about why below. Read on!
In this issue: What to do when you can't stop missing your old life and the person that you used to be, my recent library book hauls, and some helpful articles for you to eyeball.
Why you’re getting this: I'm Jen Glantz and this is my Monday Pick-Me-Up newsletter. I've been sending it for over 8-years, every single Monday morning, to thousands of awesome humans, just like you. Thank you for letting this email live in in your inbox. It makes my heart explode with joy.
The Pick-Me-Up: When You Feel SOOO Nostalgic for the Life You No Longer Live
Miss the life you used to have? The love you used to know? The person you were before you knew what heartbreak felt like?
Maybe you're having a string of moments where you can't stop thinking about memories you no longer have proof of anymore...about people who are no longer going to answer the phone if you speed dialed them...about places you can no longer twist open the door handle and walk right in...about love that's dissolved and become nothing but invisible particles floating around in the air.
And during those times, I hope you remember this:
When you're twisted in thoughts of a past you can never go back to, know it's okay because the truth is...
YOUR PAST WOULDN'T RECOGNIZE YOU ANYWAY.
If you could go back, it would squint its eyes at you, it would scratch its head at you, it would wonder what your name was again.
You've come along way to be the person you are today.
Let those memories stay with you, like a necklace you don't ever take off - not even to shower - and dress yourself with the life you're living now.
Because it looks different than the life you lived then, right?
Good. It's supposed to.
That's called growing up and you have no choice but to fall in love with the facts of what you've survived and the hope you kiss hello every new morning you wake up to live another day of your precious life.
All my love,
Jen Glantz

Monday Pick-Me-Ups:
I'm constantly saying how PINK! is such an underrated musician. Sometimes, when her songs play on the radio, I feel myself feeling a range of emotions. I love this song right now so much and hope it helps you feel less alone in what you're going through today.
