Hi, Friend! It's me - Jen Glantz.
Here’s what I can’t stop thinking about this week:
Light dimmers.
The people in our lives who are constantly turning the dial down and whispering that we should be less who we are.
You're too much. That outfit is a bit too loud. You're posting a lottt on social media. You really think you can do that?
It usually goes that most of these people are the ones who are super close to us. But they aren’t always dimming our light with the worst intentions. Some genuinely want to keep us safe, shield us from failure, or guide us down paths where they've found success.
Others might be jealous.
But either way, these are the people who love you.
Except... they fell in love with you for your full brightness, right? So why are we letting them dim us now?
An even more dangerous light dimmer we should fear?
Our own selves.
Helllllllo, you.
You are supposed to be your own Dallas Cowboys cheerleader at all hours of the day. Why do you sound soooo mean?? You should be rattling off all those Gen-Z terms: Slay queen!
But instead, you sound like a defense attorney, arguing for all the reasons you should stay quiet, remain as is, avoid bringing attention to the bright and boldness that is beaming from your freaking core.
You are responsible for telling yourself that you can actually do something and then doing it. All those other light dimmers around you should be turning the dial up, not down, but they aren't the real problem. We are our own problem.
So make yourself laugh this week.
When you catch yourself being a light dimmer, shout back something ridiculous like Wait a second, I am actually soooo fabulous! And when someone else tries dimming your light, don't waste your energy—simply tell them:
No, you're wrong.
You might need to tell yourself that too.
Take care of yourself this week (ilysm),
Jen Glantz
Hello dear May! May it bring us all a dose of sunshine we’ve been craving since the start of the year.
Book: Currently reading this book and can not put it down. It’s beautiful, heartbreaking, and makes me think even more deeply about the people around me that I think I know so well.
Song: A fun little bop for you this Monday AM!
Makeup: I throw on this lip gloss before leaving the house and it makes my entire look feel sooo complete.
Most-Worn Item Of the Week: I’m not proud of the price tag of this item but as the weather changed, I found myself living in these shorts. They are super expensive and my friend gifted them to me for my birthday. I’ll be honest — they are worth the price tag, especially if wearing denim in the summer makes your body feel trapped.
Necklace: I wear this every day and get sooo many compliments. Sharing it because it’s 20% off, ships fast, and makes for a great gift!
Recent Monday Pick-Me-Ups:

Good morning, Jen! I so look forward to your newsletters every Monday! Thank you for sending those positive notes every week!
I’m a big reader and I’m always interested in what you’re reading as I’m sure many other readers are. I was wondering if, when you send us to a link, instead of sending us to Amazon, could you send us something supporting local a bit more, like bookshop.org?
I’m not really sure how it all works so maybe that’s not a thing, but I just thought it would be cool because I’m sure so many people listen to your book recommendations and bookshops could benefit from that.
Again, thank you for being so honest about your life and sharing the good and the bad! We all need that!
Good morning, Jen. You are so right! Whenever we take the first step on a new project or new direction, there are always light dimmers who try to stop us. Have to ignore them and move forward.
